Gradable® supports the bi-partisan, and bicameral, Growing Climate Solutions Act (GCSA). After evaluating the bill, we believe it will empower the FBN® network of farmers to be part of the climate solution on a voluntary basis. It also promotes conservation, sustainable land-use practices and will help lower the costs of tackling climate change by creating the framework for a larger carbon offset market. We want to thank both U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Mike Braun (R-IN), and U.S. Representatives Abigail Spanberger (D-VA 7th District) and Don Bacon (R-NE 2nd District) for their bi-partisan leadership of this bill in their respective chambers. We also appreciate the strong leadership of Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and his commitment to policies that will benefit farmers. The GCSA will create a certification program at the USDA to help solve technical entry barriers to farmer and forest landowner participation in carbon credit markets. These issues – including access to reliable information about markets and access to qualified technical assistance providers – have limited both farmer participation and the adoption of practices that help reduce the costs of developing carbon credits. For farmers, we believe this will provide much needed clarity into processes, verification, and the market for carbon credits. FBN recognizes the issues now being resolved in this bill continue to be both important to farmers, and an opportunity for them as well. We began investing time and effort to lead work to support farmers’ sustainability practices – both in the supply chain and in the environmental credit market. Gradable is a result of that work – a business focused on supporting farmers and agribusiness partners that run farm-level sustainability and regenerative agriculture programs. Together, Gradable works with farmers to create a more efficient, transparent, and sustainable agriculture supply chain.
